There is absolutely nothing nicer than getting on a plane after 4 months of gray skies, snow, sleet and ice and getting off the plane 3 hours later to find blue skies, green grass and tons of wildlife and flowers everywhere. This has been my Florida experience in March of 2004 and 2005.

When I traveled to Florida for the first time in March of 2004, I had never been any place except Disney, and that does not count for seeing Florida, in my opinion. So here we are - life in the middle of winter! All of these photos are taken in and around the Naples and Marco Island area.

My parents have a place in Naples they head to for the winter (is there anyone from Ohio who is retired and doesn't do this?) They come back home when it starts getting hot.

I'm really embarrassed to admit this, but don't know the names of half the plants and trees I photographed that are on this page. I'm researching and will add names as I find them. If any of you native Floridians (or Ohioans who are more educated than I) would like to help out, please contact me. Thanks!
