Lake Superior Trees at Sunset, Fall 2001

All along my favorite part of Lake Superior's shore are huge pine trees. As the sun was setting, these trees were glowing a reddish color. I've always thought of these as twins.

Update 2006: I'm sad to report these two giants were taken out some time ago. From what I can tell from looking at the results and the other trees in the area, the right one snapped off and took the left one down with it, likely as a result of those sometimes-ferocious winds coming off Lake Superior. It was sad to see the empty hole in the shoreline where they stood, but I guess it is all part of the cycle of nature. There were many other trees also damaged in the area.
