WTC from Air, December 2000

I flew to NYC for the first time in December of 2000. I could see the Trade Center for a long time before the rest of the city came into view. Since the photo was taken from the plane, it was not as clear as I saw it in person.

When I drove there the following December of 2001, I came in on Route 1. By taking this route, the first view of Manhattan is downtown. I came under an overpass and saw the city, and for a few seconds thought I had made a wrong turn. I then looked to the left and saw the Empire State Building and realized I had just seen the new downtown skyline. It was my first trip there after September 11 and was very emotional.
