Here are the photos that don't really belong in any existing collection and I don't have enough of one kind to devote an entire page to yet

In December 2003 I took a trip to the New Jersey shore for a conference that took place at an ocean front resort. I didn't bring my 35mm camera because I thought there would be nothing nice to look at in the winter. Was I ever wrong! I saw one of the most beautiful sunrises (see the slideshow!) I'd ever seen over the ocean and at least I had my digital camera. The beach was actually quite nice as soon as I got past the arctic air coming off the ocean. It was quiet and I was alone most times I went out. There is a quality and clarity of sunlight in the winter that is simply not there in the summer.

I previously had visited Ithaca, New York and the surrounding areas in October 2003. I somehow managed to hit the area as the tree colors were peaking. I spent hours upstream at the Taughannock River watching the leaves fall. This was the first fall I had gone someplace other than Michigan and although New York was great, I did miss Lake Superior badly.

Also included are some photos from my hometown of Columbus, Ohio. I work downtown and love it there.

Note: the Ocean City, Maryland photos have moved to their own page.
