Red Bushes at Dolly Sods, Fall 1994
Near Bear Rocks, Dolly Sods has hundreds of short, tough bushes. They only grow about a foot and a half off the ground. For about a week each fall, they turn a brilliant red color and the whole area looks like it's on fire. This photo was taken when the sun was low in the sky causing the leaves to be backlit. The photo didn't scan in as well as I wanted it too and it is much more impressive on the original print.
